Telehealth & COVID -19

We are committed to protecting the health of our clients and staff during the pandemic, so that we can continue to provide our services with minimal disruption as much as possible. We are doing this by offering telehealth (video and phone consultations) to all clients and by implementing a comprehensive COVID-19 safety protocol for face-to-face appointments.

Telehealth

Telehealth can be provided through a phone session or a live video session using a purpose-built telehealth platform. We have been using both methods of providing telehealth since the start of the pandemic and have received feedback from our clients that it is an effective and convenient way of continuing with psychological therapy when a face-to-face appointment is not possible or appropriate. Research has demonstrated that online therapy is effective for a range of psychological problems and after using telehealth for some time now, we have learned how to maximise our use of the technology to enhance the online experience for our clients.

Secure and confidential – Privacy is paramount and for this reason we only use telehealth platforms that have been specifically designed for use by health professionals. The platforms that we use for our video sessions are simple to use, but apply the highest levels of security (i.e. data is end-to-end encrypted and no client or session date is stored online).

No accounts needed, no downloads and works on any device – You do not need an account to use our telehealth platforms and there are no downloads necessary – all you need is an internet connection and any device with a microphone and speaker (a mobile phone, computer, laptop or tablet).

Medicare rebates still apply – Telehealth is now a permanent feature of the Medicare system, so as long as you have a valid GP or psychiatrist referral, you can claim the same rebate for a telehealth appointment as you can for a face-to-face appointment.

To access your appointment – You will be sent an email that confirms your appointment and gives you the instructions you need to access the appointment. This will include a link to our virtual clinic and instructions for how to test that your device will work. You do not need a new link for each appointment as it is the same link for every appointment. We suggest that you bookmark this link in your browser so that you can easily access it every time.

We are here to help – if you have any questions about how to access telehealth or if you are not sure about how it works, please get in touch as we are happy to take you through the process and tell you anything you need to know.
